Tree Planting

Last year I helped organized a tree plating event with the environmental club . Along with being a organizer for the event I was also the photographer at the event. The event was made to plant trees around the school area , this event really showed me all the hard work it takes to bring change to a school. Our club had to make many connection with people and get out of our comfort zone in order to make sure everything went to plan. Although it wasn't a flawless event at the end of the day we really learned a lot in order to improve on in our future events.

FIRST Lego League

FIRST LEGO LEAGUE is a branch of FIRST Robotics which consists of mentoring and assisting middle schools students in the creation of a small robot. The students have goals they have to accomplish with the robot and they have to achieve these goals my making a design that will allow them to do this. They then program to actually perform those actions. I was a mentor of one of these teams, my duties helped the teams with the building and programming of their robots. But what I took from the experience was the little moments of being thanked by the students for helping them solve a problem or just being their for moral support. I felt happy I was helping these kids and it made me feel good knowing that the kids thought I was a help to them.

Toy Drive

For the past two Christmases I have volunteered in a local toy drive at a church where I help set up and give out the toys. The experience was incredible, although my family isn't rich I was helping kids who situation are far from mines. It was so heart warming to see the smiles of kids who found a toy they love and knowing that I can take very small responsibility for that is a amazing feeling. It was hard work though as I was either passing out toys standing for hours or moving and picking up heavy boxes of toys.And although I was tired it was extremely inspiring to see all these volunteers take time out of their busy schedule to work so hard for kids, doing it with a huge smile on their face. It made me shut up and pick up another heavy box with a huge smile.
